The primary focus of this course is twofold: functionality and environmental/site considerations. Through a problem-solving design process, students will explore solutions for small-scale functional, environmental, and structural challenges. This includes analyzing functional relationships, circulation patterns, spatial qualities, openings, and structural systems for buildings such as celebrity residences, vacation homes, exploration centers, kindergartens, kids' arts centers, and children's libraries. Concurrently, the course will introduce urban spaces, landscape design, and the impact of environmental and physical factors on the design process. Students will experiment with current trends through design assignments for projects like student hostels, youth camps, tourist villages, and gated communities.
