Analog Communication Systems

History of communication. Analog communication systems: Block diagram, Transmission media, Frequency bands, Channel capacity and Data rate. Review of signals and systems: Energy and power spectral densities (internal and external noise sources, noise figure, noise temperature, composite noise figure and composite noise temperature). Linear and nonlinear distortion. Link budget analysis. Amplitude modulation and demodulation (AM, SSB, DSB and VSB). Angle modulation and demodulation (PM and FM). FDM Systems. Broadcasting transmitters and receivers (AM, SSB, and FM). Automatic Gain Control (AGC). Automatic frequency control (AFC).
