Artificial Lift Technology is Challenging the Oil & Gas Industry Changes

Artificial Lift Technology is Challenging the Oil &Gas Industry Changes

Artificial Lift Technology is Challenging the Oil & Gas Industry Changes Artificial lift techniques are used in ~ 94% of over 1 million oil-producing wells around the world. It is using to lift fluids to the surface in reservoirs with low pressure and improves the production efficiency of the naturally flowing wells.

With growing the number of mature oil fields and explosive growth of new unconventional oil and gas production activities often results in very challenging production conditions. For such fields in order to staying profitable in the current environment of lower-for-longer oil prices means deploying technologies that maximize production at minimal expense. For those fields which usually rely on artificial lift solutions, the ability to lower the lifting costs while improving operational efficiency is critical for extending production life at economical rates.

The industry is still experiencing a learning curve as companies seek to better understand the technical challenges involved with operation in such fields. The question is what artificial lift system is needed to maximize production while lowering lifting cost. As a result, a tremendous amount of efforts and money is being pumped into unconventional, mature and difficult wells R&D, in all the aspects pursuing new technology advancements—including artificial lift systems and remote monitoring applications that help operators maximize well performance.

This presentation will discuss the main production challenges; in additional to the key factors that influence the selection and operation of the artificial lift techniques.
